Our MN Permit to Carry Course will prepare you to safely, effectively, and legally carry in Minnesota, and any state Minnesota’s permit to carry is recognized. Because we want all of our community to be safe, our course covers more than just the minimum required by the state. We’ve identified critical information and skills in addition to the state requirements for permit to carry that will keep you and your loved ones safe and ensure that you are acting within the confines of the legal system.

Course Overview

The course will cover all aspects of handgun ownership, to include: types of handguns on the market today, ammunition, maintenance and care, shooting fundamentals, and weapons failures and their corrective actions. The course also covers the legal aspects of carrying a firearm in Minnesota, and when you’re authorized to use lethal force.

The lecture is followed by a live fire qualification that includes the proper loading and unloading of a weapon, live firing, and successful demonstration of a failure drill identification and correction. In order to safely conduct the qualification, we will assign 20 minute testing sessions for each participant.

Course Delivery and Range Info

Currently our lectures are provided virtually due to the pandemic. We hope to at some point start providing the courses in-person once classroom accommodations are available again for this type of training.

We utilize the indoor range at the Hero Center, in Cottage Grove. All participants must fill out the Hero Center’s waiver form before they can enter the range area.

Course Pricing

We offer two options for course pricing, with and without a firearm rental. Both options include all costs for the range, targets, and course materials.

$70 – participants bring their own firearm and at least 50 rounds of ammunition. The range requires the ammunition is in its original packaging and only allows brass cased ammunition.

$100 – all-inclusive. MN Tactical Carry will provide the firearm and all ammunition necessary.
